The Cambridge Audio Evo CD is a dedicated compact disc transport designed exclusively to work with the Evo 150 and Evo 150 SE all-in-one streaming amplifiers. If you own an Evo system and have a CD collection you want to play, this is the transport Cambridge engineered specifically for that purpose. It connects via a proprietary EVO Link cable (included) that carries both audio data and control signals, allowing the Evo's high-quality DAC to handle all digital-to-analog conversion.

KEY FEATURES

  • S5 Servo Technology: Cambridge's latest custom disc-reading mechanism, an upgrade from the acclaimed S3 Servo in the CXC transport. Delivers improved jitter rejection and error correction for accurate data retrieval.
  • Full Metal Construction: Anodized aluminum chassis with an acoustically dampened metal tray. Isolates the disc mechanism from vibration and electromagnetic interference.
  • MQA CD Support: Plays standard audio CDs (CD-DA), CD-R, CD-RW, and MQA-encoded discs. Also reads the CD layer of hybrid SACDs.
  • Gapless Playback: Live albums, classical recordings, and continuous mixes play without gaps between tracks.
  • Seamless Evo Integration: Album artwork and track information display on the Evo's 6.8" color screen. Control playback via the Evo remote or StreamMagic app.
  • Interchangeable Side Panels: Ships with both wood grain and matte black Richlite side panels to match your Evo's aesthetic.

EVO ECOSYSTEM COMPATIBILITY

The Evo CD is not a universal CD player. It requires an Evo 150, Evo 150 SE, or Evo 75 all-in-one player to function. The EVO Link connection handles both the digital audio signal and remote control commands, so there are no separate digital cables to configure. Once connected, the transport appears as a source in the Evo interface, and all playback controls work through the Evo's remote or the StreamMagic app on your phone or tablet.

S5 SERVO PRECISION

At the heart of the Evo CD is Cambridge's S5 Servo, a custom-designed disc-reading mechanism built solely for audio CD playback. Unlike multi-purpose computer drives, the S5 is optimized for one task: reading audio data with minimal error. Total correlated jitter measures under 140 picoseconds. The full-metal tray and dampened chassis prevent mechanical vibration from reaching the laser assembly, ensuring clean data transfer to the Evo's DAC section.
