Moving coil cartridges use a lighter generator assembly than moving magnet designs, resulting in faster transient response, finer detail retrieval, and a more refined overall presentation. They are the preferred choice for serious vinyl listeners chasing the highest level of analog performance. Our moving coil collection features cartridges from HANA and other manufacturers, spanning entry-level MC designs that outperform many moving magnets to reference cartridges built for the most demanding turntable setups.

Moving coil cartridges require a phono preamp with MC-compatible gain and loading, since their output voltage is significantly lower than moving magnet designs. Proper setup, including alignment, tracking force, and VTA, is even more critical with MC cartridges because of their higher resolving power.
