Yes, that's literally his cell

At this level, every detail matters: your room, your system, what you’re driving it with, what you’re listening to. I handle these orders personally because an investment like this deserves more than an Add to Cart button. We’ll work through system synergy, I’ll make sure the setup is right, and we’ll coordinate delivery so it arrives exactly how it should. A few of our brands require this direct approach, but at this price point, it’s how I’d do it anyway. Use the button above, or call/text me directly at 410-239-2020.

Family-Owned Authorized Dealer

We're an authorized dealer for every brand listed on this site, so your warranty is valid and fully supported. We're a real brick-and-mortar shop in Chestertown, MD with shelves of actual inventory, not a drop-shipper. Family-owned and run for three generations, since 1978.

*Free Delivery and Shipping

Free shipping for most items over $100! Local delivery up to 500 miles more with minimum qualifying purchase.

The Perlisten S5m is a full-scale reference monitor that delivers tower-level performance without needing to stand on the floor. Designed with the same DPC-array and materials as the flagship S7t, the S5m brings effortless dynamics, deep extension, and pinpoint imaging to systems where sound comes first. With bass response down to 29 Hz in most rooms, it outperforms many floorstanders while offering greater placement flexibility and acoustic control.

This is not a bookshelf speaker. It’s a monitor built for listeners who expect full-range performance, nuanced detail, and high-output capability from a speaker that earns its space.

Key Features

  • DPC-Array with Beryllium Tweeter: A 28mm Beryllium dome flanked by dual 28mm TPCD midrange domes, waveguided for pinpoint imaging and smooth dispersion
  • 180mm TPCD Carbon Fiber Woofer: Lightweight, ultra-strong TexTreme cone with extended bass response and low distortion
  • Sealed or Reflex Operation: Can be run in acoustic suspension or bass reflex mode depending on room needs
  • Thin Ply Carbon Diaphragm (TPCD): Up to 30 percent lighter and stiffer than traditional carbon fiber, resulting in fast, clean transient response
  • Advanced Waveguide Lens: Shapes the output of the DPC-array to optimize off-axis response and minimize early reflections
  • Premium Cabinet Construction: 50mm front baffle, internal bracing, acoustic fiber damping, and mechanically decoupled walls
  • THX Ultra Certification: Validated for reference playback levels in large listening rooms
  • Made for Smaller Spaces with Big Expectations: Performance that challenges full-range towers, but sized to fit

The Technology Behind the Sound: DPC Array

Directivity Pattern Control (DPC)

The DPC array is Perlisten’s most advanced acoustic system. Developed over 18 months using sophisticated simulation tools and real-world prototyping, the array controls how sound projects into your room. It reduces early reflections, improves clarity, and expands the sweet spot. Every S-Series speaker shares this same architecture, ensuring consistent voicing and seamless timbre matching across the entire lineup.

28mm Beryllium Dome Tweeter

At the center of the array is a 28mm Beryllium dome tweeter. Beryllium is one of the strongest materials used in audio and offers exceptional internal damping. It avoids the harsh resonance break-up modes found in many metal domes and extends well into ultrasonic frequencies. The result is treble that is fast, transparent, and free from fatigue.

Dual 28mm TPCD Carbon Fiber Midrange Domes

Flanking the tweeter are two ultra-light midrange domes made from Perlisten’s proprietary TPCD material. This thin ply carbon diaphragm is lighter than conventional carbon fiber but offers greater rigidity and control. These drivers extend further down into the frequency range than typical domes, allowing for a lower crossover point and better integration with the woofer. They maintain a fast, natural midrange without beaming or compression.

Waveguide Lens

The DPC array is shaped by a precision-molded waveguide that controls dispersion and directs sound power. It helps present a coherent wavefront, optimizes off-axis response, and reduces early wall reflections. The benefit is a wide, stable soundstage with excellent vocal clarity and imaging no matter where you sit.

Thin Ply Carbon Diaphragm (TexTreme)

Used in both the midrange domes and the 180mm woofer, Perlisten’s TPCD cones are made from TexTreme: a next-generation carbon fiber that is 30 percent lighter than standard carbon materials of equal thickness. It achieves this through a unique stacking process that layers the fibers to enhance strength and distribute resonance break-up modes more evenly. The result is greater bandwidth, lower distortion, and the dynamic speed and impact that define Perlisten’s sound. The unique weave is both visible and audible in the clarity it delivers.

Hear What’s Hidden

The S5m was built to reveal what others gloss over. Its size might not match a floorstander, but its output, detail retrieval, and soundstage certainly do. The Beryllium tweeter brings airy, fatigue-free high frequencies. The carbon fiber midrange domes add speed and intimacy. The custom woofer delivers room-filling bass with finesse and control. Together, they make the S5m more than just a monitor. They make it a reference.

Whether you’re building a no-compromise stereo system or using it as a left-center-right solution in a serious home theater, the S5m makes no excuses and leaves nothing out.

Precision Engineering, Inside and Out

The S5m’s enclosure is a study in refinement and control. The 50mm thick front baffle, three internal braces, and full mechanical damping create a foundation that eliminates unwanted resonances. Internal acoustic fiber further absorbs reflections, allowing the drivers to perform with greater focus. Even the crossover uses carefully selected components to preserve dynamics and resolution without compromise.

This kind of build quality isn’t just about longevity. It’s what lets the S5m stay composed during dynamic peaks, while remaining transparent during the most delicate passages. You don’t just hear the music. You feel it.

Build a Timbre-Matched S-Series System

The S5m brings the full S-Series DPC-Array to a standmount monitor, so it carries the same voice as the towers in a smaller cabinet. Every S-Series model is timbre-matched, which makes the S5m equally at home as a front speaker in a compact room or as a rear channel in a larger S-Series system:

  • Pair it with S5t or S7t towers up front, with the S5m handling surround duties.
  • Anchor the front stage with the S5c center, or step into a full bookshelf system with the S4b.

Add Perlisten Bass

A monitor focuses on speed and imaging, so a Perlisten sub is the natural way to add weight underneath. Run a pair of D15s or D12s subwoofers to even out bass across the room, and we take 5% off a pair. Browse the options on the Perlisten subwoofer collection page. If you're interested in a speaker and sub system from Perlisten, the simplest way is to start your order, tell us the full system you have in mind, and Mike will put together a personal quote.

The Listening Room Difference

Speakers like the S5m deserve to be matched carefully and placed with intention. That’s what we’re here for. At The Listening Room, we help customers get the most from high-performance gear by bringing real-world experience, honest advice, and a deep understanding of system building. Whether you’re choosing between S Series models or trying to dial in your system, we’re available to talk through your space, your preferences, and your options. And we’ll help you get it right the first time.
